How to use a Sargent & Greenleaf mechanical combination lock on a safe or cash box
On many occasions, we find that a customer has the code to open the cash box but does not remember the steps to follow in order to enter the opening code.
We must know that there are several types of mechanical combinations on the market, one of the most common being the Sargent and Greenleaf brand. Today we will explain how to enter the opening code on this type of combination. We can identify it as a Sargent combination by observing that there is a line to the left of the reference brand (it is for changing the code), and we can also observe S&G on the wheel.
The clearest way is to provide an example and explain step by step: opening code 40-60-80
1- Turn to the left 3 or more times and stop at 40.
2- Turn to the right, passing 2 times through 40 and stopping at 60.
3- Turn to the left, passing once through 60 and stopping at 80.
4- Turn to the right slowly until you find a stop.
In the case where the combination only has one number, for example, 90:
1- Turn to the left 3 or more times and stop at 90.
2- Turn to the right slowly until you find a stop.
If you are unable to unlock the combination and thus cannot open the cash box, you should contact the technical service.
